Annually in July
Dr Wolfensberger always taught that the teacher/practitioner of Social Role Valorization had to know more than SRV. They also need to comprehend the prevailing world views of the culture in which they operate. In addition they require a deep understanding of the high level issues that arise when people learn and begin to implement SRV. He developed three workshops (among others) to suit this purpose, which the Wolf Wolfensberger Summer Institute On Moral Issues presents in a rotation every end of July. This Summer Institute is intended to keep alive his teaching on three of the most important of those issues, namely:
- How to function with personal moral coherency in a disfunctional world with its disfunctional human services;
- Contemporary threats to the lives of vulnerable people, and crafting a coherent stance of defense of all human life;
- The philosophy of “personalism” and its implications, with special reference to human service, as articulated by Wolf Wolfensberger.
Each year, at approximately the same time (the end of July), one of these workshops will be offered by a group of associates of Dr. Wolfensberger’s whom he trained in these topics. Workshops are held in venues which allow for inexpensive accommodations and meals.
